We all love command line tools in DevOps, they help with keeping things under precise control, like a shift stick in a car. But what if you don’t need that level of control, or just want to relax, push the pedal and accelerate?

Once the upcoming Docksal 1.12 release (packed with lots of great features, like the integration with Acquia, Pantheon and Platform.Sh) is out, we will be introducing “The Next Big Thing” in Docksal — a standalone UI.

Initially, the UI will be limited to macOS, but being an Electron application, it will eventually be ported to Linux, and then Windows.

Starting a project

Docksal UI 1.0 features will include:

  • Import existing Docksal projects in one click or one by one
  • Create new projects
  • Start, stop, restart a project
  • Open project link in a browser or folder in Finder
  • Review project meta-information (environment variables)
  • Global visor terminal, allowing you to use command line tools in your projects without leaving UI!
